Awakening of Spring

Lighting Designer

Adapted From Spring Awakening by Frank Wedekind

Directed By Christopher Manousos at Randolph college.

February-March 2020 (postponed)

In late 19th Century Germany, a group of teenagers struggle with fear and curiosity as they navigate the inner and outer tumult of their dawning sexual awareness amid adult misinformation and repression.

This devised adaptation of Frank Wedekind’s Spring Awakening delves further into the ideas of sexuality, with student writing and choreography exploring homosexuality, asexuality, virginity, and more.

The lighting design was based around the use of four handheld trouble lights, allowing the performers to manipulate the lights and incorporate the design into their choreography.
