Mr. Brown Goes to The Seaside.

Devised Theatre- Performer, Creator, Scenographer

Skatter Collective, RCSSD 2017

On an empty beach lies a stack of neatly folded clothing, two shoes, and footprints leading into the sea.

Mr. Brown Goes to The Seaside is a five-hour durational piece exploring memory and loss through the lens of a lifetime. Seven performers move through the cyclical stages of life, led by music, and informed by lighting and text, in a studio filled with sand. Mr. Brown Goes to the Seaside examines the nature of humanity and relationships. Songs, citrus fruit and birthday cake ignite feelings of nostalgia as they work to remember a lifetime, through childhood, first love, conflict, and the eventual descent into the void, only to reappear again at the beginning to start the cycle again.

Equal parts performance and installation, this piece was created as part of the MA Advanced Theatre Practice Class in 2017.
